"HRH The Princess Royal opens Brunel's State of the Art Occupational Therapy Suite

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Patron of the College of Occupational Therapists (COT), today visits Brunel University to tour its Occupational Therapy facilities and formally open a new bathroom and kitchen training suite donated by Pressalit Care.  The Princess Royal will be accompanied by Mrs Dee Christie, Chairman of Council, COT and Sir Robert Balchin, Pro-Chancellor of the University.

keep living suite plaquetteThe new training facilities, named the 'Keep Living Suite,' are housed in the Mary Seacole building, which was officially named by Her Majesty The Queen in May 2006.  The Suite has been donated to Brunel University by Pressalit Care and includes a complete range of kitchen and bathroom products for disabled people.  It will be used to teach occupational therapy students to use this equipment to increase a disabled person's independence and functional ability, and includes moving and handling beds and two kitchen areas with adjustable height equipment.

In addition to opening the Suite, The Princess Royal will view occupational therapy students in the work rehabilitation and art facilities and meet with both undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff from the School of Health Sciences and Social Care and from Pressalit Care."
