Pressalit Care Awarded The Danish Design Prize 2007
HRH Crown Prince Frederik presented the awards when the Danish Design Centre celebrated the best innovations within Danish design in Copenhagen on March 29, 2007. Pressalit Care's nursing bench for people with reduced functional abilities was one of this year's winners of the prestigious prize.
The prize-winning nursing bench has been developed by Pressalit Care in collaboration with the design company 3PART. The bench is intended for wheelchair-bound users and others who need a flexible bathing solution.
The secret behind the flexibility is a lifting unit on the wall enabling adjustment of the bench from a height of 30 cm up to 1 m. This facilitates transfers from a wheelchair to the bench and provides optimum working conditions for care professionals. In addition, the nursing bench offers a number of functional details and it is made of materials that provide optimum comfort and safety.
As a basis for the award, the jury emphasised the well thought out functionality and the beautiful design which makes the bench "a positive example of the use of design on the border line between public and private space".
A prize for innovative products
Pressalit Care has accepted The Danish Design Prize 2007 with much pride and pleasure. According to the Danish Design Centre, the prize is awarded to companies that have created innovative solutions of a high aesthetic and technical quality that contribute to visualising the value and to stimulating the use of design in the Danish trade and industry. And this description fits in well with Pressalit Care's own product philosophy. "Unfortunately, aids are often considered purely functional installations with no particular attention to design and aesthetics. At Pressalit Care we would like to show that it is possible to make solutions that are both functional and beautifully designed. We consider the acknowledgement in the form of The Danish Design Prize 2007 as proof that we have succeeded," says Pressalit Care CEO Erik Boyter.
